Bangkok

On July 4th 2004 it takes more then 5 hours to complete 5400km flight and cross almost whole country of India to reach at Bangkok international airport. Thailand is in top 50 largest countries list and its capital Bangkok is also listed in top 20 most populous cities. 64 million peoples but also having up to 5 million migrants.   Its old name was saim and was changed in 1939. Thailand is also described from Thai peoples...The land of free. Because Thailand is only country in south Asia that never been colonized by any European country. With 1st step out from plane I saw 1st master piece of Thai determination the suvarnabhumi airport. Bangkok is just about 2 meters above the sea level so that makes difficult to protect the city from flood in monsoon season. Lot of night clubs and disco are entertaining the foreigners. Another Special thing of Bangkok is Chao Phraya River is 230 miles long. My room was reserve in intercontinental hotel near gaysom shopping centre. We visit phra nakhon district and see many historical places. My friend told me that the 1st name of city given by king Buddha yodfa known as a founder of Bangkok. In 1688 siege of Bangkok is incedent when thousands of siami (Bangkok) peoples besieged the French troops in fortress for 3and half month and finely matter was negotiate and cause the French withdrawal from city. I was alarmed to not walk away from hotel after evening because armed robbery and other street crimes are common thing. Well travailing is attractive thing but also restless. going to sleep while thinking about glamour’s life of Bangkok disco nights just beside the high ratio of street crimes is proof that it is very hard to be good traveller no matter we have plans and cars and all the stuff.

Karachi The Sea Night

My mom call me and ask about me that how am  I? . I was so confuse to tell her that I was in swat 2 days ago. Anyway I didn’t. And I told her that I am going to Karachi to meet some friends. My guide gives me lift for airport where I am going to experience of travel in Pakistan national airline. I really feel that I am any ware in local bus stop it’s funny but it’s true. Anyway my flight was not in very good condition. At Karachi airport my friend riaz who was my class fellow at Jakarta boarding school was there to pick me up. After a long time I see him and find very calm and mature but back in teen days he was naughty. He took us to his home and introduces his whole family. Everyone wants to talk me but I was desperate to take a shower. Finely riaz felt my thoughts and lead me to a room where I am going to spend few days. In my opinion Taking shower is alternate of any medicine for tiredness. Next morning I get up early and start thinking where should I go today. Karachi is major seaport of the country. And the birth place of Muhammad Ali Jinnah (founder of Pakistan) it’s a type of metropolitan. Large number of muhajir (migrate from India before partition) are living here. Old name was kolachi. allied forces in ww2 used the Karachi as air force command centre. While taking breakfast riaz told me that now a days MQM, ANP, PPP are well-known political parties in Karachi. MQM is blamed to have military wing in there party. We decide to go to Clifton beach side point. Streets of Karachi are totally opposite from swat. More liberal peoples and more educated are here. But riaz inform me that in some areas of Karachi there is some madrisa s(type of schools) are teaching children to be a militant and prepare for jihad( fight for Allah). But local government keep that kind of schools under strict monitoring. Clifton beach is beautiful place but peoples are not caring about throwing dust into sea that makes water dark Gray. Children were playing in water and some couples were trying to find some place to sit. After spending a 2 hours we came back to home and next day we decide to travel in surrounding of Karachi like suhrab goth, kemari, and other paces.

Swat The Switzerland of Pakistan

A 40 kilometres ride of a taxi with a mass destruction smell was memorable because most of the time I breath with my mouth not from my nose. We reached at capital of swat saidu shareef.  The city of swat Calles Switzerland of Pakistan in past but now days a military operation is in process due to Taliban influence so Switzerland changes into rubble. Landscapes are charismatic rises with Swat River to Hindu Kush mountain rang. Udyana is the ancient name of the city from that century many invaders make this city a battle ground like Alexander the great from Greek. And in Greek time city names were found as Ora and Bazira and after that in 2nd century city and surrounding were occupied by Buddhists. That’s why we saw many places where Buddha’s status is seated. Many lakes and hiking points are located in city and also just outside the city. Our host in swat was a former major from FF(Frontier force) he warm welcome us and entertain with nice coffee. He told us that few months ago Taliban captured almost whole city. But thanks to Pakistan army they drove back the Taliban. But they are still trying to fight back. The tactics they are using is to blow up government buildings and schools. Mortar attacks and suicide attacks. During our discussion a man comes into room and asks us to do not go outside. I look at major he define me that there is intelligent reports that Taliban are about to attack some areas of city. Suddenly explosion shakes the room. I jumped over the chair and take cover behind the dining table. We heard 2 or 3 massive explosions along with gun fire. After 15 minutes everything goes calm. I was thinking about my decision to visit swat. But now I have to face these. Our informer told us that 25 Taliban attack the outpost of city with one suicide attack helped with mortars. Thank god no one hurt badly. In next 3 days we visit 3 lakes kundol lake, Bashigram Lake, and spin Khwar Lake including swat museum. In museum we saw gandhara sculptures and many things that belong to Buddhists. In these 3 days we heard firing and small explosion almost every day but luckily we remain safe and come back to Peshawar to prepare for next tour of Karachi.

Swat My 1st flight

Back in summer of 2004 i manage to visit the most dangerous place on earth. the tribal areas of Pakistan in Khyber pakhtunkhwa province with neighbouring country Afghanistan which is dangerously patch up with this region. in that area most of the peoples belongs from pashtun tribes. I and my guide arrived at Peshawar international airport early in morning. And i felt that my stomach was empty as hell. So we decide to take something to eat. We eat traditional paratha (type of bread cooked in oil) after that cup of tea make me more kinetic.peoples wearing different clothes especially women was looking like a camouflage property. It is very common thing to see men having a long beard. Anyway at that time i received call from one of my friend who manages to get permeation for me to visit these areas. Told me that we should reach at our next stop sawat before evening because it is very risky to travel in these areas in evening. You can be killed by someone not just for the wealth or something but also for being a foreigner. It is very painful to killed from far away from your home so we arrange a taxi. My driver takes my suitcase. And open the back door of taxi. With missing heart beats I take my seat. Not because of life threat but because of smell which was horrible. While driving driver told my guide that he just delivers goats to one of his client. Well breathing was also difficult as the nature of pashtuns.but we can bear with that for the sake of upcoming excitement.
